PET RESIN
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is a high-quality plastic resin mainly used in the packaging industry and, in particular, for the production of bottles.
PET is a general-purpose plastic made through polycondensation of PTA with ethylene glycol (EG). This material has many outstanding properties, resistance to both heat and cold, transparency, electrical qualities, chemical proof and abrasion proof. For all these reasons, it is finding a wide variety of applications in the fibers, PET bottle and films.
PET is one of the major polymers produced worldwide representing about 18 % of world polymer production and comes in third after Polyethylene and Polypropylene. The main downstream industries based on PET are production of polyester fibers, accounting for around 65% of global consumption, and PET bottle resins consuming around 30%.
